THE ANNIE CHRISTMAS SHOW / ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE: THE STORY OF POPULAR MUSIC, 1977

Notes from other traders: This DVD contains two unrelated rareties from 1977. THE ANNIE CHRISTMAS SHOW Andrea McArdle (Annie), Reid Shelton (Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks), Dorothy Loudon (Miss Hannigan), Sandy Faison (Grace Farrell), Robert Fitch (Rooster Hannigan) The entire original Broadway cast of Annie is featured in this Christmas special, originally broadcast 4 December 1977. Commercials have been edited out. Approx. 45 minutes. ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE: THE STORY OF POPULAR MUSIC (Episode 7: “Diamonds as Big as the Ritz: The Musical”) Stephen Sondheim wrote and narrates this documentary about the evolution of the musical from its roots in the music hall, opera, vaudeville, and burlesque, to the Broadway and London stages. With scenes from: Company, Pacific Overtures, Follies, Chicago, Oklahoma, Tommy, and A Little Night Music; early workshop and rehearsal footage from Hair; footage from The Leaf People (which had an eight-performance run in 1975). ANTHONY WARLOW TELEVISION COLLECTION, 1980s-1990s
VOBs with smalls | 3.52 GB
Two-hour long collection of 26 clips encompassing TV spots, adverts (including two for his first solo album, Centre Stage), music videos, interviews, and various performances in the 1980s-1990s. Includes selections from The Phantom of the Opera, Jekyll & Hyde, The Secret Garden, Chess, Un ballo in maschera, Patience, Dialogues of the Carmelites, and more. Almaviva’s notes: I have recently discovered there are two versions of this compilation; the more common two-disc version found on nearly every early (i.e. from the years 2000-2010) Anthony Warlow trader’s list and the one-disc one. The two-disc version suffers from serious generation loss and distortion despite being 6.47 GB in size and I suspect it was a very poorly done transfer from a copy. The version I am trading is the less common one-disc one where the quality is much better and brighter (though some clips look nicer than others). Some generation loss, but not as severe as the two-disc version. *Limited trade (2:1)* |
ANTHONY WARLOW COMPILATION DISKS, 1980s-2006
VOBs with smalls | 7.58 GB
Various performances and interviews on TV from the late 1980s to 2006. Songs include “My Blue Heaven”, “It’s Alright with Me”, “If I Loved You”, “This Nearly Was Mine”, “Smilin’ Through”, etc. Different from the Anthony Warlow Television Collection listed above. Also converted from VHS but the quality is much better. Very rare. 1st generation from the master. *Limited trade (2:1) and at my discretion* |
AUSTRALIAN MUSICAL CLIPS
VOBs with smalls | 3.90 GB

Almaviva’s notes: Also has the best quality clips/footage I have seen so far of Anthony Warlow as Sky Masterson, though the sound in the Guys and Dolls segment is skewed to the right audio channel. *Trading for specific wants only at my discretion* |
BEST OF THE YEAR: 1998
TS | 4.23 GB
Notes from other traders: Press reel clips, rehearsal footage and behind the scenes from the 1998 season. Includes Bette Midler, Little Me, Forbidden Broadway, On the Town, Gypsy (Papermill), making of Annie Get Your Gun commerical, Scarlet Pimpernel SP2, more. From a couple generations down on VHS. Almaviva’s notes: This came to me listed as “Broadway Beat: Best of 1998” and although I haven’t compared it yet with the VOB version above, I’m pretty sure it is the same video. However, there is much more generation loss here on the TS version (see screencaps). |

About 4 hours total on 2 discs. Quality varies. Almaviva’s notes: I received it as 2 discs with smalls (5.48 GB) with a bunch of separate VOBs and MP4s (totalling 3.55 GB). The latter looks like someone was converting the VOBs into MP4s and then gave up. I think they are duplicates of the discs and may be safely deleted, but I’m keeping/trading them out like this just in case. |
