Notes: First preview.
Almaviva’s notes: The 20th anniversary Broadway production. Volume fluctuates a great deal, with intermittent silences at random moments, and seems like the recorder was in the front row near the orchestra, leading to the actors being drowned out on a fair number of occasions. That being said, I enjoyed this very much and Ian Richardson is my second favourite Higgins thus far after Anthony Warlow.
Almaviva’s notes (30 September 2022): I recently got another version of this audio (sized at 203.3 MB) which is spread across 3 folders/discs. The opening speech at the beginning (given apparently by Alan Jay Lerner himself) is longer and the audio has not been remastered or amplified, leading me to believe this is the original version.

Ghosted Broadway’s master (previously known as Sugar-Butter-Bootlegs)
Directed by Julie Andrews, celebrating the 60th anniversary (Diamond Jubilee) of My Fair Lady since it first appeared on Broadway.
Notes from the master: This is my first time doing a recording so I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. Due to the Cockney accents, it can be a little hard to understand at times but it is mostly clear. The orchestra was amazing and never overpowers the actors on stage. A solid performance with the highlight being Anna O’Byrne, you can definitely tell that Julie Andrews is her mentor, her mannerisms and speech are incredibly similar! Both tracked and untracked options available.

Diodenes of Catania’s master
Notes: Closing night. Includes curtain calls and speeches.
Almaviva’s notes: Clear audio and very responsive audience, though there is some mildly distracting rustling (from what seems to be a wrapper of some kind) in the second act. I personally prefer Alex Jennings’ Higgins to Charles Edwards.

sitting-in-my-hotel’s master
Notes from the master: Please mark as sitting-in-my-hotel’s master. Tracked by Hester. Audio is a little echoey, but I think that was the theatre. madeofmusicals’ master
Notes from the master: English National Opera orchestra conducted by Gareth Valentine. The sound mixing of the musicians varies a lot in each act, due to the master changing seats to somewhere closer to the string section. Does not include curtain call, and there was no exit music. Always list with the conductor (and in this case orchestra) information. Includes a small document with a bonus surprise. Please keep that as well. NFT Forever except through master, never for sale.

Notes from the master: Charlotte’s debut in the role of Eliza, I was seated close to the orchestra which could at times slightly drown the actors out.

LullabyOfBroadway’s master
Notes from the master: Closing night! Amara was absolutely stunning as Eliza, and Harry’s Higgins has become even more unhinged (in the best possible way) than on Broadway. Recorded from the front row, a little echoey but that’s just the theatre. The incredible English National Opera Orchestra was conducted by Gareth Valentine.

ittookyears’ master
Notes from the master: Performed entirely in German, with Eliza and the other villagers speaking in a Swabian dialect. Unfortunately I don’t know the dialect very well but the people around me thought it was hilarious so their laughter is probably quite present in the audio. I’m not sure to what extent my recording device picked up the squeaking of the chairs and the stands but presumably a decent amount. The audio cuts off before curtain call. As it’s usual with these sort of productions, the large ensemble consisted mostly of amateur performers, some of which were children, hence why they aren’t listed. NFTF except through master!

Certain aspects have changed compared to other productions which I will list in a text document. Notably, the choir does not do accents and several scenes are trimmed down.

LullabyOfBroadway’s master
Notes from the master: Closing night! Amara was absolutely stunning as Eliza, and Harry’s Higgins has become even more unhinged (in the best possible way) than on Broadway. ittookyears’ master
